May 5, 2009 - Honey leaping for joy at the Colorado River Park near where I live

Reprimand

Society
tries to steal
my divinity.
Why?
It has its own.
But not so
with the trees…
when we're alone,
they shake their leaves
at me,
that I should forget
so easily.

Realms

What I am, I am not...
not these things to be forgot;
not this voice or this face...
notions born in time and space.

What I am not, I am...
the unwritten monogram;
the captain of the dream...
I am the unborn Beam.

The Particle Zoo

The sunlight in the window
sends its messengers through,
to dance on my table-top
in the particle zoo.
Beyond my comprehension,
I see patterns resume
by particles interactions...
their dancing fills the room.
What a distance they have traveled
from the sun to reach me...
then in a flash, through the window,
they light up the tree.
Now, the clouds are rolling in
between the sun and me,
but the light's left its imprint
on my heart and the tree.
In the clouds, a crack reveals
messengers leaking through...
their dances sparkling on the earth
in the particle zoo.

It All Matters

I make my wishes,
then do the dishes
haphazardly…
Every motion
is a magic potion
in eternity…
I reach for a star
that is way too far,
but the sun takes me in…
I turn off the news,
and retie my shoes
all over again.

The Hawks

The hawks light up my tired eyes...
closer and closer, they bring distant skies
into my life...their magical sphere
includes me in freedom when they fly near.
Wings against Autumn circling over my head...
my senses soar with them...my soul is fed
large dosages of beauty in the sun’s light...
mountains painted behind the hawks in flight.
The hawks in September take me as prey,
while admiring their commitment to Today...
I readily follow their paths through the blue...
surrender to the wind...become a hawk, too.

Honey

Of course, no one could know you
the way that I do…
You are subtle, like the air
that paints the sky blue;
You’re my wildflower
where divinity grows;
My best teacher of love,
as far as that goes.
Forever giving, you give
without end…
The more love I ask for,
the more love you spend.
Whether before my eyes
or on my mind’s shelf,
You are the very essence
of Love itself.

New Friends

Just when I thought there were no new songs to sing...
No new thoughts to think about the state of things,
I heard new voices...new choices, resilient and bold,
Flowing through the faces of the Marsh Marigolds.

I had forgotten how to pursue and to find
Inspiration and insight to help change my mind,
When my heart joined a loner...a translucent Harebell
Growing in a crevice, where the best secrets dwell.

Just when I thought that as far as I could see
Was pain and suffering...hopeless mirrors of me...
Wondering who could make life feel complete,
When an Indian Paintbrush kissed my feet.

I had forgotten where to look in my world of me
For the innocent flow of life and beauty,
Until, above timberline, where I love to look down,
I came face to face with a saintly Rosecrown.

While lost in the forest of a crowded mind,
And the repetition of some futile design,
I sat upon a great mountain of snow and stone,
And found new friends...new life I had not known.

The Dance That Is Me

I am the dancer
and the dance is me...
above the hills and valleys,
illusion’s clouds I see...
As I dance with the wind
and I touch the tree,
and the dance that is them,
is the dance that is me.

Echoes of the seasons
sound in the wind,
as one dance leaves off
and another begins...
The sounds of my laughter,
sorrow of my cry...
reflections in the lake,
as water mirrors the sky.

Bound by emotions
of my own song,
bound by the struggle
to hold what is gone...
Till over the edge,
I go dancing beyond
the illusions created
by yesterday’s song...

...as I dance with the wind
and I touch the tree,
and the dance that is them
is the dance that is me.
